The Horsham Arts Council (HAC) will celebrate its 50th anniversary in style with a show that highlights every musical they have performed over the years. The variety within the production is enormous with performances from shows including ‘Paint Your Wagon’, ‘Calamity Jane’, ‘Oklahoma’, ‘Les Misérables’, ‘Oliver’, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, ‘Godspell’ and ‘Grease’ just to name a few. There should be something for everyone to enjoy. It will hopefully introduce the audience, young and old, to the wonderful music that exists in musical theatre.
The show is directed by HAC life member, Debbie Boutcher, who recently has directed the successful musicals ‘What’s New Pussycat?’, ‘Nunsense’ and ‘Bye Bye Birdie’. She will be ably supported by her assistant directors Stacey Brennan and Jessica Wilson, both of whom are well known as performers on the Wimmera stage.
There are in excess of 80 in the cast as well as approximately 30 on the production team which proves what a massive undertaking the production actually is. The cast consists of people of all ages and experience which is very exciting. We even have an exchange student from Europe performing in the show whilst she is here in the Wimmera. Given the nature of the show, there is opportunities for many of the cast to have a solo or lead role which is great for the development of the performers. It will also showcase the depth of talent that exists within the Wimmera region.
Furthermore, it will be the first ever musical to be performed in the new Horsham Town Hall Theatre. This is very exciting and something the HAC will be very proud of. The theatre has been a long time in the making but it is finally here. No doubt, the performers and the audience will be buzzing with excitement when the curtain is finally lifted for the first time.
There will be five performances as shown below.

The celebrations will continue on Sunday 14 February 2016 where HAC House will be open all day and a BBQ lunch will be provided. The HAC committee hopes to have as many people in attendance as follows. It will be a great chance for old friends to get together and reminisce about old times. It does not matter if you were involved with one HAC production or 30 or if you were on stage or off stage. Everyone is welcome to come and share in this momentous occasion. To register your interest and to assist with planning, we ask that you please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we can send an invitation to you.
The HAC has a reputation for amazing musical productions. For the past six musical productions, the HAC has received at least one nomination and/or commendation from the Music theatre Guild of Victoria. This includes actually winning three awards for “Godspell” and “What’s New Pussycat?”. This is a testament to the quality of theatre that the HAC is producing. This production will surely be no different.
Please bring along the whole family and support the fantastic talent that the Wimmera region is blessed with and be one of the first to see a production in the new Horsham Town Hall theatre. You will not be disappointed.
